How we keep children safe

This page is for parents, carers and schools. It explains the choices we have made so that children can learn without any of the risks that usually come with being online.

Children never sign themselves up

Only an adult can create an account. You add each child, set their username and password, and can change or remove them at any time.

Nothing social

There is no chat, no messaging, no comments, no friend lists, no profile pictures and no way for one child to find another. Children only ever see questions and their own progress.

Nothing to upload

Children answer by tapping choices or typing short answers. They cannot upload photos, files or free writing that anyone else can read.

No adverts or outside links

There is no advertising, no sponsored content and no link that takes a child off to another website.

Content written by teachers

Every lesson and question is written and checked by our team for the right age group, then made live deliberately. Every change is recorded.

Sensible time on screen

Test Yourself uses short sets of about ten questions, so a session ends naturally rather than running on.

Raising a concern

Email help@englishshop.co.uk and a person will reply. Tell us the child's first name only — we never need more than that to find the account.
